Celebrating 100 years of Morris Dancing in Ripley
In 2025 Ripley Morris in partnership with Ripley Green Garters will mark the 100th anniversary of the first recorded instance of morris dancing in Ripley which took place in 1925. Morris dancing in Ripley evolved from the Ripley Folk Dance club formed in 1925.
A Day of Dance will take place in Ripley on Saturday 13th September 2025. The day will be run on JMO lines and designated as a Morris Ring Meeting with sides dancing around the town. There will be plenty of opportunities for refreshment during the day with sides catering for their own needs. The event is being officially opened by the Mayor of Ripley and John Tams. at around 10.30 am and close around 5.00pm after a dance display by all teams on the market place in Ripley.
Ripley Morris and Ripley Green Garters look forward to welcoming you all to a cracking Day of Dance on 13th September 2025.
Ripley Morris and Ripley Green Garters are delighted that so many sides from The Morris Ring, Morris Federation and Open Morris have expressed interest in attending their Day of Dance on Saturday 13th September 2025 to mark the centenary of the start of Morris dancing in Ripley. These positive responses have greatly helped our planning process.
Any sides who think they may have missed the deadline for applications to join the day should not feel distressed. We still have some places available. Registrations to join the day remain open.
Please contact Ripley Morris at ripleymorris [at] hotmail.com with the subject Ripley 100 for further information and to register your side's attendance.
