To add the latest Bagman's Newsletter

Navigate to the Bagmans News page and go into EDIT mode.

In the Attached Files box

  1. Browse to the file on your own pc and Upload it  (your pdf will now be on the web server)
  2. the pdf will now show in the Attached Files box, along with all the previous newletter pdf files
  3. change the 'weight' of the new newsletter to -1, so that it will appear at  the top of the list
  4. ensure the Display box is ticked for the latest Newsletter (that you have just uploaded)

On the first line of text at the top of the page (that starts "The latest Newsletter 74 - July 2011 from the Bagman ...")

highlight the "Newsletter 74 - July 2011" part (it will be all of the underlined text) and delete it.

Leave the cursor there, and in the Attached Files box, click Insert for the latest newsletter (that you have just uploaded).  This will insert the link where the cursor was left. The first line of text will now start "The latest Newsletter 75 - Nov 2011 from the Bagman ...")

Then update the Summary for the newsletter (copy the text from your new newsletter and paste into this page).

Before you leave the page, either Save your changes, or do the following ....

... and to promote the newsletter in the news on the home page

You can advertise the fact that the new newsletter is available by automatically creating a news item for the home page. You do this in three steps, while editing this same page:

  1. Edit the Page Summary (see link alongside 'Body') and edit the text there - this is intentionally brief so that it fits into the news articles on the home page.
  2. Under 'Authoring information' delete the date and time shown in the 'Authored on' box. This will automatically be updated when you save the page to the current date and time. This ensures that the Page Summary is considered to be news.
  3. Under the 'Publishing options' at the bottom of the page, make sure both 'Published' and 'Promote to front Page' are ticked.
  4. Click on Save to make the changes happen. 

That's it - now check that the Bagmans News page has been updated to your satisfaction ; and check that the newsletter is mentioned in the Latest News on the home page.
