70th Anniversary Ale Weekend 2nd to 4th July 2027

We regret to inform you that our proposed Ale weekend due to be held in Sherborne on the
above dates has been cancelled. This is due to a mix-up at the school over recently-issued term
dates for next year which mean that this week-end will be the one that the school breaks for the
summer, not the previous weekend as was originally anticipated.
On reflection, and given that we have had relatively little positive commitment to this enterprise
– though a few expressions of interest – we have reluctantly decided to cancel the weekend.
We remain resolute that we will run an Ale to celebrate our milestone anniversary and are
already drawing up plans for a more intimate weekend to be based at the village hall in our
spiritual home of Cerne Abbas (as we did for our 60th), which we trust will be a more affordable
proposition (though without the same home comforts!).
This will be held over the week-end of 9th to 11th July 2027 and we will
provide more detail shortly.
In the meantime we would like to once again invite expressions of interest (with potential
numbers) from sides with regard to the new dates, to the e-mail below. ‘Oddfellows’ again
welcome to represent sides and share their talents with others over the week-end.
There will be adequate facilities to accommodate female side members separately over the
week-end.
