From Matt Simons
Dear members of the Morris Ring,
I am sorry to have to report the death of Graham Cox, a long-standing member of the Cambridge Morris Men, on 1 September.
Graham joined the CMM in the mid-1970s and served as Bagman on three occasions for a combined 13 years; was Squire from 2000–02; and assisted with many Travelling Morrice tours. He had previously danced with Stag Hill Morris in Guildford, and later also danced with Coton, Fenstanton, and Devil's Dyke. From 2003–2010, Graham was the Morris Ring’s East area representative; and in 2014, he was mastermind behind the JMO Day of Dance in Cambridge.
His funeral will take place at 2:15pm on the afternoon of Friday, 25 September at the Cambridge Crematorium’s West Chapel followed by refreshments — and hopefully dancing — at the Black Horse in Dry Drayton. Morris dancers and musicians are invited to attend in kit. Please let me know if you wish to attend so that I can notify the family for catering purposes.
Best wishes,
Matt
