The inspiration for Yateley's Tim Lloyd’s programme cover design comes from The Cloggies, a humorous take on Morris Dancing by the great Bill Tidy, who died earlier this year. He will be greatly missed! One episode contains Tim’s favourite definition of the Morris: “We are not gym mistresses dancing nymphs and shepherds, but grown men enjoying an historic sport that is fortunately tied to public houses”. I couldn't possibly comment...
I thought this artistic impression was well worth a share as a tribute to Bill Tidy, an enthusiastic supporter of the Morris, and ale. The fact that Yateley made me their honorary fool hardly had nothing to do with why I chose to publish this rather splendid artwork.
