Belchamp Morris 40th Celebrations
Friday, July 15, 2016 - 12:00 to Sunday, July 17, 2016 - 15:00
Founded in 1976, Belchamp Morris Men take their name from the village of Belchamp St Paul, North Essex, where they still practice and entertain at the village fete. Originally formed to dance Morris in the Cotswold style, they decided in 1990 to convert to the dances and style of the Welsh Border Counties. Since making the change they have never looked back; their style is recognisable instantly!
To celebrate their 40th Anniversary the side has organised a 3-day event, the principle day being the 16th. July 2016.
The weekend starts on Friday 15th July at Yeldham just outside Sudbury, with an afternoon and evening of folk song, socialising and the tasting of the Nethergate Brewery's “B.M.M.” beer, brewed in their honour.
Saturday 16th is a morning tour of the Brewery and then a planned dance-out at nine public house venues, organised as three tours to include the sides that have joined them from around the country. The evening will be another camp fire sing-a-long and curry night.
Sunday 17th is recovery day with a hearty farewell breakfast of locally sourced sausage, eggs and bacon, (porridge for the veggies).
They presently have six other sides joining them and if you would like further information on what’s happening, and /or joining them at one (or more) of the venues, please contact info [at] belchampmorrismen.co.uk or go to the belchampmorrismen website.
