The Saddleworth Rushcart Ring Meeting - Postponed until 2021

Event date:
Saturday, August 21, 2021 (All day) to Sunday, August 22, 2021 (All day)

After much discussion, we have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel this years Rushcart.

This has not been a decision made lightly, but we cannot see a way for the event to be the spectacle it should be in light of current government advice and proposed timelines.

The health and wellbeing of our lads, fellow Morris dancers, families, friends and the general public, who are always out in force, is more important.

The Saddleworth Rushcart, we hope, will be back in 2021, as big and as noisy as ever!

If guidelines allow, we hope to dance out locally later in the year. Stay safe, and we hope to see our friends and supporters soon.

Please note that this is still not the Bank Holiday Weekend.

We can promise a good weekend at minimal cost, continuing a tradition long associated with North West Morris, in its traditional setting.

The ‘Cart is pulled around the villages of Saddleworth on the Saturday with dance spots throughout the day.  On Sunday the ‘Cart is pulled up to Saddleworth Church for the spreading of rushes on the Church floor, with dancing and competitions throughout the afternoon (Gurning, Wrestling, Worst Singer and Clog Stepping etc.).
