The fabulous Thaxted weekend of dance will be held on its traditional weekend in 2024, from Friday 31st May until Sunday 2nd of June.
The festivities kick off on the Friday evening with welcome food and information dancing for those that will. The Saturday will be as old hands have come to expect, a breakfast followed by bus tours of the beautiful surrounding countryside stopping to dance in several pubs, a pub lunch will also be provided. The tours will end up back in Thaxted for the massed procession from both ends of the town then show and massed dancing in the centre. From that a glorious feast where you will handsomely fed and watered. More mass and show dancing leading to the climax of the evening when the Thaxted Men dance the haunting and sublime Abbots Bromley horn dance. On the Sunday after breakfast a short procession up the hill and church for the spiritually inclined then more dancing before lunch. After lunch a relaxed wind down relaxing and social dancing with the public in the Margaret street gardens.
All sides and members from the Morris Ring are welcome to apply to attend if not directly invited, this is regardless of gender profile of the dancers or musicians, all will be most welcome. We will also be inviting representatives sides from the Morris Federation.
Numbers may be limited so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
